Yep, they've been confirmed to be Tibetan mastiffs.

I feel like Yoshi bases the three kings on those bad edits that make them look even bigger :tfw_rigel1:

Or forced perspective pics...

As opposed to just being a fairly normal large breed

I dont know if its Yoshi purposefully exaggerating but considering he thinks Great Danes are born with pointy ears I wouldn't be surprised if he actually thinks they're unnaturally giant. :KRUMP:

I would laugh and cry if Yoshi genuinely thought these guys are that big

Another thing is that it's a trend, like with Malamutes, to breed them to be abnormally large and make their fur extra long... Surprise surprise, the outcome is not a healthy dog with manageable fur lol

I know the video quality in the first video is bad and the 2nd video doesn't show the absolute worst the breed has reduced into especially with size but... I think you'll see the difference haha.

tbh since there's a reference to Tibetan mastiffs being bred to be big in GDN, my guess is that the brothers are a reference to that, just exaggerated for story purposes. Yoshi does love his "humans are the real problem" plots, after all.

Yeah they even specify that the breed got so big because they became popular in China.
