...I just had a somewhat concerning thought. Specifically about how it's said in this chapter that Orion "has something else to do" and how he can't die here because he's destined to do something.

Good ending: That "something" he has to do is destroying the Great Demon King, which he'll do in the next chapter. It's gonna be a rushed ride, since he's got to accomplish it all in one single chapter, but at least he's fulfilled his destiny. The End.
Bad ending: The next chapter is going to pretend the Great Demon King isn't a thing anymore and destroying the space worms officially ended the threat against Earth, so it'll just be the dogs celebrating and whatnot. Orion's destiny remains unfulfilled and there still remains "something" he must do, thus serving as a sequel hook for a post-GDN series and Ginga is once again not allowed to end.
Golden ending: We're just going to pretend this alien business is over now and the final chapter ends with a flash forward several years to the future, showing the newest generation ruling over Ohu in peace and Orion's destiny was to become a mighty defender of Ohu. The End.

As much as I love Ginga from the bottom of my heart, what is this. I am stunned, it´s so crazy and all over the place, no real plot going on, and we had literal nothing happening over the last chapters and now we have this? It all seems so forced, let the poor man retire! I really hope that´s the last Ginga, because if we continue with aliens and stuff like this, man, that isn´t Ginga anymore..
I also wonder what else Orion has to do. A fight over a single chapter? I don´t know.
And what´s gonna happen with Sirius and Noah? Are they just going to swim away and never be seen again (like Koyuki and Bella that were never ever mentioned again?)??

If it really is headed into it's final chapter, all I gotta say is wow! If this is the ending sheesh, cause it didn't tie up any loose ends and really just left more unanswered chaos than anything else. Though at this point and with this story Arc does anyone actually want it to continue.

With how abruptly things seem to be resolving, especially if this next chapter is truly the last, I wonder if GDN isn't actually selling as well as it claims and/or is garnering such poor reception that the publisher is at the point of just pulling the plug on the story. Not that I think anyone is really complaining about it (other than the WTF? factor). I'm hoping that they'll finally let Takahashi retire and rest after this.

Though, yeah, I agree that it's disappointing that we never did find out what's up with Bella and Koyuki.

I noticed the shaky lines, too. I wonder how much of that is because of Takahashi's age (he's turning 69 in September): for instance, Charles Schulz (the creator of Peanuts) did say in interviews that the lines in his art got shaky when he got older because his hands started shaking so much.
