Re: Ginga Densetsu Noah, SPOILER THREAD
I don't really favor Orion becoming a Sirius 2.0 either. What I really liked about Orion's character was the fact that he was different from Gin's, Weed's, and Sirius's merciful personalities. Orion basically did what we wanted to see happen to evil doers that his other family members wouldn't, and wasn't afraid of getting into others' faces. Just the fact that he was different from his family members makes him an interesting character.
I'm all in favor of Orion getting character development in this arc to make him look less like an asshole, but I really hope it won't reach the point where he's exactly like Sirius, because that erases Orion 's character entirely. What I would like to see from Orion is him slowly becoming his aggressive self again, but showing mercy when it counts. (And who knows, maybe he'll be just like Riki for once.) Perhaps Sirius's words going through his head will indicate when Orion needs to show mercy or to talk things through.
But who am I kidding. Yoshi's not that creative.

Only thing Sirius was right on, was not to fight against bears anymore, and taking care of Chibi. But what he had with Monsoon? Nope, nop, nope.
Otherwise, agree. And the changing of names is on now. I still can't wait till vol 3 to the corrected names.

Re: Ginga Densetsu Noah, SPOILER THREAD
Yeah if they slowly morph Orion into a Sirius clone it'll be SO disappointing.
I love headcanons/AUs where Sirius' more level-headed ideals came true and they found peace-- but in the actual story I don't really see any way they could have made peace with Monsoon. Maybe other bears, but he specifically? Too much water under the bridge.
So if Orion spent all of TLW clashing with Sirius, threatening him, fighting tooth and nail to keep the Ohu dogs on his side of the battle TO THEN GO BACK on all that? Then what was the point of TLW?

Poor Reika. How many times have people died/gotten seriously hurt for her sake? Like five times now? Sheesh :C
I'm really disappointed in all this Orion change too. I hope it's not hinting to Orion being another clone, but is hinting to him figuring out being himself ISN'T a bad thing.

Re: Ginga Densetsu Noah, SPOILER THREAD
My favorite part about Orion's bit of navel-gazing here is that he doesn't even hesitate to do it despite Tama having just recounted how he saw a good friend and two of his brothers get torn to pieces apparently not that long ago. He and his family are obviously still shaken and grieving, and Orion just decides to take that grief and use it as a soap box to spout his new ideology at them. No wonder Tama gets pissed.
You know that thing in real life where anything from religions to cults to pyramid schemes like to target people who are down on their luck or just miserable due to recent tragedies, because people in that state of mind tend to be desperate for some solution to their woes or just a place to belong in? Orion's basically doing that.
Go step on a Lego, Orion, literally nobody wants to hear your proselytizing.

Wow, Orion describes himself as the current leader of Ohu. Seems like he pulled himself together.Tsukitora wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 5:36 am Twitter account talking about the next chapter:

First off, thus far, everyone in GDN has been referring to Orion as "taishou" (大将), which means "boss/leader/general", rather than "soudaishou" (総大将), which means "supreme commander" and is the established proper title of the leader of Ohu, which either implies that they suddenly started being less strict about the title or that Orion calling himself "supreme commander" is coming out of the left field.
Secondly, how does he know that he's the supreme commander now? Did Weed step down during the post-TLW timeskip and formally named Orion his successor, which would both be a hell of a thing to do completely off-screen and also kind of completely insane (remember, at this point in time Orion was either still seething with anger towards Sirius or well on his way to depression, meaning that no matter how you look at it he wasn't really being the best candidate for a leader at the time)? Or does Orion somehow magically know that Weed retired and chose him as his successor after he left Ohu? I mean I'm guessing it's the former, but it still barely makes any sense.
Thirdly, Tama called him "leader" (using the more ambiguous "taishou" again) last chapter, but there's literally no way for him to know that Orion's the supreme commander now, seeing how he and his family have been completely in the dark for a year now and they couldn't possibly know about Weed retiring and choosing Orion as his successor. Unless of course Orion himself told them, which kind of seems weird seeing as how he's apparently been avoiding the topic for a while now and probably wouldn't want to bring it up just like that.

Re: Ginga Densetsu Noah, SPOILER THREAD
What has Orion even done to deserve the title of leader? He hasn't rallied any forces, he constantly ran ahead of everyone because he was blinded by hate to Monsoon, he was disowned by Weed in GDW:O and from what I can tell Weed is still in his prime so why would he even step down? Orion has barely had any training in becoming a leader. So stupid.

My guess is that Weed retired because he thinks he shouldn't have handled the whole deal with Sirius like he did, and he's no longer worthy of being a leader after he basically sentenced his own son to death.Rusty wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:22 pm What has Orion even done to deserve the title of leader? Though that does raise the question that, if he feels so guilty about Sirius's death, why appoint the guy who outright hates his guts as the new leader...

Re: Ginga Densetsu Noah, SPOILER THREAD
hahaha... Remember how at the start of TLW, Gin says how he can die without worries since Weed, his heir will keep everyone safe. And now... Weed retires less than a year after that hahaha? wtf?
Well, it's not like Weed deserved to be the new leader in the first place but COME ON!
I wonder what this story is about to do tbh? Orion still seems confused about Sirius' ideals (thank god since they are a mess lol) but he has realized that blindly concentrating on revenge will get you nowhere. But what makes this story confusing to me is that I have no idea what the characters' goal is??? Orion wants to tell his family about his brother's death. and? after that??? what about everyone else? just running after Orion?? Stuff keeps happening in the chapters but I still feel like the story hasn't even started yet. Am I the only one feeling like this?

If that's the case then we really should've been SHOWN thatDigsu wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:43 pmMy guess is that Weed retired because he thinks he shouldn't have handled the whole deal with Sirius like he did, and he's no longer worthy of being a leader after he basically sentenced his own son to death.Rusty wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 3:22 pm What has Orion even done to deserve the title of leader? Re: Ginga Densetsu Noah, SPOILER THREAD
Ugh, Orion's becoming pathetic. He used to be my favorite character since GDWO because of his personality. He reminded me a lot of Lightning McQueen (even their colors match) and I was really looking forward to see him becoming the strongest dog in Gingaverse with so much potential. I really love overpowered dog characters, especially if they're good guys. He quickly mastered the battounga and didn't get tired from it unlike others, he even cut down a giant tree. That was so amazing! Now he's become just dumb. =/

I hope this is only due to Orion thinking he has to be like this to somehow atone and keep a part of his brother alive.

I did want Orion to mature and get character development, I didn't though want to read his words and go "Who are you???" like I did with Weed in TLW...

Yeah you're supposed to *show* a character growing and maturing over an arc, not with a throw-away line in a dialog in 1 chapter.

Re: Ginga Densetsu Noah, SPOILER THREAD
Yeah, it really IS that way, but it still ruins Orion! After all he did nothing wrong for him to need to atone something, Sirius himself brought his own end. I agree what other people said that it would at least have made sense if he died heroically saving someone (Orion! Then it would make sense for Orion to blame himself (although it's not his fault, but still)) from Monsoon's crazed attack while still holding on to his beliefs, instead of just getting hit by his own idiocy. =/

Re: Ginga Densetsu Noah, SPOILER THREAD
For me, Fanta really hit the nail on the head. You all know I like both Orion and Sirius, but Orion is my #1 favorite Ginga character partly because of how different he is from the rest of the bearhound family. He’s such an intriguing and well written character and now to see him becoming Sirius the Second (without any action page time development) is a really big middle finger to his entire character.
I really hope that maybe it’s just him discovering that SOMETIMES things have to be talked out instead of always fighting, but what Orion already said to Tama and Co. about not getting revenge doesn’t make me very hopeful
