That's one of the reasons I didn't like the russian arc, it felt it wentv dark just for the sake of it? Does anyone else feel that with this manga sometimes?

One very dark scene in the manga that I think of is this:

SPOILER

When GB tells Weed about meeting Hougen in a flashback, two little abandoned puppies were involved. GB took care of those puppies and then later wanted more protection for them. So he took them to Nero to hopefully find protection for the puppies, even though Nero saw puppies as “useless.” But Hougen was there that day. And when he saw those puppies, he accused Nero of hiding a female from him. In other words, Hougen accused Nero of mating with a female behind his back. GB tried to explain the situation to Hougen, but he wouldn’t listen to him because he was only speaking to Nero. Nero confessed to Hougen that he had no female with him. So what did Hougen do?! He made Nero murder those two innocent little puppies to prove that he was telling the truth! All of that right in front of GB! And GB couldn’t do anything because he was scared that he might have put himself into danger, especially against Hougen. He wanted to save those puppies, but he couldn’t do anything. This was why GB was scared to help and care for Weed at first when they first met. It was a very dark scene that effected GB in a bad way.

Dark and disturbing as it is, have to admit that Hougen has some impressive acrobatic skills to balance on two legs that are on the same SIDE. Dogs can balance on their rear or even front legs, but one rear and one front leg AND both from the same side is impressive.

I never found Hakuro so great during GNG but it breaks my heart how he died
