Wow Finland you're making your way through them!

How many stories are left now... is it just Shiroi Senshi Yamato that hasn't been translated out of all the dog stories?

Pretty sure Yamato is the only longer dog story from Takahashi yet to be translated in Finnish.

As much as I would love to have Yamato in Finnish as well, I know it's very unlikely to happen.

Oh sweet YES!! I love this!

We'll see if SSY ever will get translated, time will tell. Otherwise there's not much stories that has dogs as part of main character. Otoko no Tabidachi, Survival on Solitary Islan... Those I do know have dogs as a pet of main character, but still.

They have stated that translating Yamato is risky because it's very long and old series, and the popularity of Ginga/Takahashi's works have been descending in Finland.

But maybe someday we'll see the day it get translated. We can only hope.

Didn't they handle GDW's Finnish release by first buying the rights to publish the first 20(?) volumes and only buying the rights for the rest of the series after making sure it would sell? I assume that's how they're going to handle SSY, if they ever even consider translating it.

Of course that could end up with us only getting the first 5-10 volumes of the series and the rest getting indefinitely shelved due to poor sales, but you never know.

Something I wonder to be clarified from the Finnish translation, the name of Chiyomaru's master. It's Seinosuke right? Seinosuke Andou?
As in Gingapedia is says Sanosuke for some reason (like in the old fan-translation).

Thank you ^^
Also, what's the name of Machiko's man she's with? Yuu-chan? Or on page 93 as they drive off from getting the gas, what does those men say?

He's simply called Yuu, as the Finnish translations don't use Japanese honorifics.

The men working at the gas station refer to him as "the most famous entertainer in the city", with "entertainer" being the translation's euphemism of choice when referring to Yuu's, er... "profession".

Fun fact: Chiyomaru refers Yuu as his owner's wife's "mating partner", and says that he's seen them "in action". Lassie then asks what does "mating" mean. Chiyomaru just replies that it's better that he doesn't know. Aww, Lassie is so innocent. XD
