YamaDora explained that two years ago. Here's what they said:
The screentone from another dog/place misplaced.

Screentones are an old method used by manga artists to create different textures and shading in manga, even Takahashi's earliest works from 70's uses them. Here's how screentones work in traditional art (see 0:37 for the actual process):

Kenshin's wife's ears are changed only once.
Except for that part, all the ears are the same.
