Riki's childhood was awesome
Though it's a short story, the plot of very interesting from start to end. From the birth of Riki to separating from his mother, meeting his father and the fight with Saheji's pack, everything is fine.I loved how Riki transformed from being the weakest puppy to the strongest one.His childhood was filled with great memories as well as sad ones, which led the foundation of his less speaking, charismatic leader figure in GNG.
I honestly wanted its anime adaption.

I also love the story! Enjoyed to see him growing up from a Mother-needing puppy to a proud adult!
He was so cute as puppy <3

I think his childhood was also great! It really showed how brave and noble he was as a puppy after growing up from when he was deemed “weak” and a “runt,” becoming the badass that he was.

I love it TToTT
I love that he was more timid and a mama's boy but had to work hard to be able to visit her again. It's definitely in my top fav Ginga side stories.
Do you ever think about just how long he kept up the visits to his mom's? I guess probably until Gohei took him in..?

Yes!! His story is one of my favorites. I really wish there had been a short spin-off about his childhood from GNG. He experienced a lot of growth and was severely underestimated but became so strong in the end.

Re: Riki's childhood was awesome
As the saying somewhat goes, not everyone is born a hero or a great leader. Riki was made into one with experience and one coincidence of survival that erased most of his memories as a hunting hound temporarily. Consistent theme of having to earn the leadership and trust of the pack and warriors alike for every leader of the paradise so far. Genuine charisma does also play a part.
His story is also very relatable to many, if one of course switches around few terms, places, names and locations so it fits their point of view.
Riki is truly, an amazing hound.

Riki's story is legendary! It's just sad that we didn't get to know more about his training with Gohee and also how he met with Fuji.
