Akita Inu Shimpo
This newspaper is giant! Only a quarter page will fit on my scanner, so have some photos instead!

Whoa, awesome!!
How old is this? O.O Looks kinda like his recent style... glad he's still getting recognition if it is newer.

My favorite part of this are those ads they have with the panels from GNG.
Also that realistic Akita Inu drawing by Yoshi is just gorgeous. <3 This man's passion for dogs is just amazing.
Thank you for sharing!!

It is quite new. I think it was a week or two ago when I saw japanese fandom posting about this on Twitter like crazy.
I love the new drawings and comic pages! Takahashi still got it. Thanks for sharing, Regnant!

That's so great...
Riki looks almost in a new style in the first picture! And John and Kurotora are back to their old designs and almost even the old style. Bizarre to see.

There's currently one on YJA. (link) They've been going for very reasonable prices, around the 1000-2000 yen mark, at least for the time being.
The GNG recap is really cool! The news helicopter having the Akita Inu Shimpo logo is a nice touch, too.
What are the things in the different colored boxes? My best guess is that they're supposed to be "ads" for different real-life businesses, with the GNG panels edited so the dogs are advertising the business in question instead of their usual dialogue - and if that's the case, I really want translations for them because the concept is hilarious.

Yeah, it makes me think about how Zion and more particularly Orion are sometimes drawn in TLW. I like how his Akitas look again, I thought they were getting almost ugly halfway through GDW.
Thanks for the pics!

Yes, they are that! If someone could translate these (and the GNG recap comic) I would be sooo happy!Digsu wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 8:57 am What are the things in the different colored boxes? Re: Akita Inu Shimpo
This is indeed beautiful! From Yoshi's drawing of Hachiko to the final battle redraw and the map of Akita prefecture, I loved every page.
A thing that caught my eye was a small ad on the 2nd last page that read "SAVE AKITA". A lot of nihon ken breeds are rare outside Japan and even rare inside Japan, and with the prevalence of the sluggish American Akita in the west, it is about time the Japanese pure Akita got a breed trust fund.

Re: Akita Inu Shimpo
Those are my two favorites too! Once I realized they were all ads it made me want to know if the dialog the dogs are saying is different to fit in with the product!
And the drawing of Hachiko just made me smile! Great tribute to the most well known Akita~
I was very interested in the little map that's on one of the pages. I'm guessing it's a "see Akita-based landmarks" road trip? I want to do that

I've read that small breeds are much more popular now in Japan due to apartment living. Is that a reason why the breed is rare?KremlinJill wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 11:32 am This is indeed beautiful! @Atha
That and the popularity of the Shiba Inu is totally a factor.
Also, what does 'Shimpo' mean?
