All right, The Last Wars is finally finished. Now I'm off to bed! I'm gonna sleep 'til I die! I've been drawing almost constantly since Ginga Densetsu Weed began 18 years ago. But now the Ginga series is finally finished!
Wait, what? What do you mean, it's not? What are you saying? Even the name of the series tells you that the last war has been fought now!
The editor of the series: But you said you were going to break Akimoto-sensei's record. His series, KochiKame, ran for 40 years.
I didn't say that! ...Or did I?
Yes you did, in an interview for a newspaper. See, it says so right here!
Oh yeah, I guess I got too excited and said something like that... Something like "I'd love to break his record if it were possible". But I didn't manage to do that, so what can you do?
Oh, you're giving up already? Time to throw in the towel and put up the white flag, right?
Shut up, you idiot! (I didn't actually say that, but it probably did cross my mind.) You mean, I really should continue the story?
Of course. After all, you can't just end a series as popular as this all of a sudden like that!
...And that's how I was talked into continuing the Ginga series. I can't say I'd be perfectly happy about this sudden development, as drawing comics is really hard work. At the very least, I'd like to disappear somewhere for a few months... Hey, wait, that actually sounds like a good idea!
[There's a paragraph here that's basically just him being excited about the (then-new) First Wars.]
All right, dear readers! It's time to say goodbye. Now I'll disappear and sleep until the end of my days. Ha ha!
Don't worry, he'll be back. The Ginga series will be continued, naturally by Takahashi-sensei. See you again soon!
